Today, I would like to be grateful for the privilege of knowing two people; Joshua and Mazi.

“Let us be grateful to the people who make us happy; they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom.”
— Marcel Proust

These are people ‘I know to their ancestral homes.’ In Igbo culture it depicts one of the highest forms of friendship. They are both members of the learned profession and I pray they are able to create a more just society.

They are also extremely kind hearted and each day, I pray that the world doesn’t misuse their kind hearts. I pray that they keep seeking out a just society, a society where people would be allowed to live their truths, a society where women would not need to shrink, a society where the beautiful traditions of our ancestors would be upheld.

I adore the fact that we effortlessly switch between Igbo and English. There are few things as beautiful as the mastery of various languages. I hope that Mazi remains firebrand. I hope that sooner than later, both of their dreams begin to actualize. I pray that they keep hoping against hope and above all, I pray that they allow themselves to be imperfect without doubting how amazing they are.
